Free Copies of Widdendream at Northwest Folklife 2011

How to Get Yours Memorial Day Weekend (Follow The Instructions)
Every year since 2008 Nae Regrets has released a new album — and my aim is to make 2011 no different.  My people & I are hard at work on the next album — working title “Widdendream” — target release date Memorial Day Weekend.  As with last year, I will be offering free copies of this new body of work upon release Memorial Day weekend 2001 at Northwest Folklife Festival held at the Seattle Center.  Starting Friday morning at NWFL I, Bagpiper Don, will give away 1 copy per day to the first person who comes to me between a Nae Regrets performance with the free MP3s available on this page and can play them on any sort of mobile media device — an MP3 player, a CD player, heck I’m old-school I’d even take it on a portable cassette tape-deck, etc.  The first person each day who successfully plays the free tracks for me and tell me each title will receive a free copy of Nae Regrets album “Widdendream”.  Oh, and to be fair, you have to be someone neither I nor any of my Nae Regrets musicians already know, nor have gained one of the copies during a previous day’s give-away.  I may also have consolation prizes for the not-first-folks &/or the otherwise-first-folks who don’t have all the details correct.

Nae Regrets Wants YOU!

Nae Regrets Wants YOU!
Send Us Your Videos/Photos and Musicians
23August2010 ~ by BagpiperDon
Northwest Folklife is always a great event for Nae Regrets — and if 2009 was lightening, then 2010 was the heavy thunder rolling on its heals.  Since this year’s event people have been asking when & where is our next big show.  You asked for it –You Got It!
Members of Nae Regrets have begun exploring the ‘future vision’ I’ve held for the band — that we grow dynamically and do more stage performances.  To do this, we need a few things, and I am turning to the fans of Nae Regrets for support — we are looking for your videos & photos and additional musicians.Videos & Photos — If you caught us at NWFolklife and would be willing to allow us to use your videos/photos as part of our promotional materials, please contact us.Seeking Musicians — talk to your friends, Nae Regrets is looking to add…

  • Singer(s) – An alto with strong skills and probably also a male vocalist; must have a willingness to learn weird Celtic songs, have creative abilities and a good commercial appearance.
  • Fiddle – Not Castro, we’d probably like to go electric.
  • Keyboard – Which would be… well, a keyboardist.
  • Guitar – Acoustic & electric.

Musicians & Dancers WANTED
Nae Regrets is seeking additional musicians & dancers. If you think you’re the person for the job — contact us and we’ll see about trying you out.  For all others, please enjoy this wonderful picture of a fabulous djembe.

  • Highland Bagpiper — If one is good, then 2 are better – how about a 3rd
  • Singer — probably female, possibly also a male vocalist
  • Fiddle — maybe not right away but eventually
  • Accoustic &/or Electric guitar — preferably someone who can play both
  • Keyboardist — gotta have it!
  • Dancers — Nae Regrets is always looking for back-up &/or additional dancers simply because life happens and our fabulous dancers can’t always make it.  Highland Dancers, Irish Dancers & Bellydancers.

…By the way, the “job” per se’ isn’t really a “job” — there are no health benefits, no 401K, no pay checks, heck there aren’t even garunteed coffee breaks.  However, the person with the right skills and attitude can go far — which goes without saying in any “job” — but when it comes to Nae Regrets, a good attitude counts for everything.

BagpipeDiscs.com Now Carrying Nae Regrets’ CDs – Order Now!

At the 2010 Skagit Valley Highland Games in Mount Vernon Washington I met up with an associate of mine, Ian Lawther — proprietor of BagpipeDiscs.com, and a highly skilled Highland and Uilliean bagpipe player.  Ian accepted the first supply of Nae Regrets’ latest album “Alive at Northwest Folklife 2010”, immediately selling 2 copies, and following the weekend made our disc available through his website.  Since going into business, Ian has developed his company and website to carry a wide range of discs covering all aspects of piping — pipe bands, solo Scottish pipers, ancient piping styles all the way to the latest techno/fusion bagpipe albums, Northumbrian and Uilleann pipes and the various bagpipes of Europe.

It Must be Spring
03June2010 ~ by BagpiperDon
Despite frequently wet weather, Northwest Folklife Festival in Seattle was a big hit for Nae Regrets this past Memorial Day weekend. Again we were received by large and enthusiastic crowds who couldn’t get enough of our music — talkin’ about overwhelming! We released the new Nae Regrets’ album “Alive at Northwest Folklife 2009” and ended the weekend with a small supply of our original stock. Requests for future performances and our schedule have poured in and our Facebook fanpage has been growing daily. Videos have started appearing on YouTube and I will start searching Flickr soon for new images captured by members of our audiences. If you have videos or photos of the band, please let us know via our contact page.  Here are the first three I’ve found — Enjoy!

Mick Finster’s Annual St. Pat’s Celebration 2011

Nae Regrets pulls a St. Patrick’s Day Hat-Trick
13April2010 ~ by BagpiperDon

St. Patrick’s Day 2009 & 2010 were lively years at Mick Finster’s Pub & Grill performed by a contingent of Nae Regrets.  After playing 2010, Mick Finsters asked that Nae Regrets keep them on our calendar for St. Pat’s 2011.  With guests Ronnie-B on drum kit and Beatstock playing hand-drums, Nae Regrets performed three tight sets again receiving rave response from Mick Finsters’ guests — our last set being extra long, responded to by dancers.  Forecast calls for Nae Regrets to take musical command of Mick Finsters again in 2012 — so while you may have to wait another year, come out to hear us live, buy a CD, buy ten CDs, get some food and do some St.Pat’s celebrating! Visit Mick Finster’s pub & grill at MickFinsters.com.
