Widdendream EP is planned and ready to record! Nae Regrets plans to release this album as a double EP with the bonus re-release of Ceòl gu Brath EP.
When this album was first conceived by BagpiperDon, he was at a loss for a title. Nae Regrets had developed a strong public following through their high-energy big-audience performances at Northwest Folklife Festival. In response the band laid plans for the immediate future and began booking performances in hot Seattle venues. At the same time, a number of personal problems developed in band members’ lives that took priority, and Nae Regrets had little choice but to go into hiatus.
This left Don understandably frustrated — right when the light turned green on Nae Regrets, the light also turned red. This confusion rolled into the album that the band was soon to record. Coincidentally, Don happened across a posting online titled “20 Obsolete English Words That Should Make A Comeback” and found “Widdendream“.
Widdendream: (noun) – an obsolete Scottish word meaning “A state of mental disturbance or confusion”
Being a word geek, Don further researched this word and formed the opinion that the ‘state of disturbance and confusion’ comes as a result of being-in or having just come out of a dream-like state — and “Widdendream” fit as a title for this album.
